If you can't pay your electric bill, call SLVREC right away. Call before you receive a disconnect notice. You can find more information about energy assistance programs here.

Disconnect fees can add up.
If you receive a DISCONNECTION NOTICE, please call the cooperative immediately if you can not pay your bill within the allowed payment time! After receiving a DISCONNECTION NOTICE, members will have five days to make payment. If payment is not received by 5:00 p.m. on the date stated on the DISCONNECTION NOTICE, a $45.00 delinquency charge will be assessed to each delinquent account, which will be added to the current month’s bill, and location of the service will be given to the serviceman to disconnect.

If the serviceman goes to the property for the purpose of disconnecting the service, he will call at the door to make an attempt to collect the past due amount. A $100.00 visitation fee will be collected in addition to the delinquent amount of the bill, or service will be disconnected.

If a service has been disconnected for non-payment and consumer has requested reconnection, the $100.00 assessment at the time of disconnect, the past due bill, a $100.00 reconnect fee ($200.00 after normal business hours), and the appropriate security deposit based on the current year deposit schedule.

NON-SUFFICIENT FUND CHECKS will incur charges as outlined under fees.

In certain situations, the cooperative may have discression to wave a portion of fees. For example, fees may be waved for members who have excellent payment records as follows:

Consumers with an excellent payment record of at least one-year with SLVREC will be granted a grace period prior to disconnection of electrical service for a delinquent account.
An account with an excellent payment record is defined as follows: 1) no more than two past due notices in the last 12 months; 2) no collection visits to the consumers premises within the last 12 months; 3) the consumer must have received continuous service from SLVREC for the previous 12 months; 4) the consumer has had no non-sufficient fund checks within the previous 12 months.

If the account has a credit rating of two or less, the consumer will be given a courtesy call before consideration of disconnection. If no contact is made, the serviceman will tag the location.

If the account remains delinquent upon expiration of the grace period, the service will be disconnected in accordance with the procedures contained herein.

The grace period will not be applicable to any consumer more than once every 12 months.

If you can not make the payment on your electric bill,
please call SLVREC before you acrue late fees and disconnect fees.
