Robert Wolfe was on SLVREC's Board of Directors from 1987 to 1998. During that time, Wolfe served as vice-chairman and chairman. During his eleven year tenure, his foresight and dedication helped to make your electric cooperative successful.
Following the spirit of generosity that guided Robert Wolfe's life, a scholarship fund has been established. Once fully established, the fund will be treated as an endowment. When the fund reaches $10,000, it will be possible to award $1,000 to an area youth each year without reducing the fund's principle.
A substantial portion of the $10,000 goal has already been contributed. All SLVREC members are invited to contribute to the fund. To contribute directly to the scholarship fund, you may send a check made payable to the "Robert Wolfe Scholarship Fund" with your monthly payment. Or, call customer service to elect to have all or some of your capital credits transferred directly to the scholarship fund.
Non-SLVREC members may also contribute to the fund. Simply send a check made payable to the "Robert Wolfe Scholarship Fund" to: SLVREC, 3625 U.S. Hwy 160 W, Monte Vista, CO 81144.
Wolfe initiated many of our cooperative's programs. He was also active in many community programs. Wolfe was a recipient of the 1998 Coors Barley Grower Environmental and Conservation Award for outstanding stewardship and natural resource conservation. Wolfe received the award for his work in reducing dust erosion. Wolfe passed away on November 6, 1998. |
