CFL's use less electricity than regular incandescant bulbs. According to the Energy Star web site, swapping out incandescant bulbs the five highest-use fixtures in your home with CFL's can make a significant difference in your energy bill and in our nation's carbon dioxide emissions.

SLVREC Offers CFLs to Members and Non-Members

2 for 2 Exchange! The program offered at last year's annual meeting was so successful, SLVREC has decided to continue it. Bring in two old incandescent light bulbs and SVREC will give you two free CFL's. Contact the cooperative for specific details on the program. Need even more CFLs? Through a program with our energy provider, Tri-State Generation & Transmission, SLVREC offers additional CFLs for sale to both members and non-members.

The cooperative offers a CFL recycling bin. Place burned out or broken bulbs inside a sealed plastic bag and place that bag in the collection bin at the cooperative's office in Monte Vista.
