SLVREC's next Annual Meeting will be held on June 12, 2012
This year, there are two open director positions, Costilla County, District 2; and Alamosa County, District 4. Currently these positions are held by Cole Wakasugi and Scott Wolfe respectively.
For information on the nomination process, please read SLVREC's bylaws, in particular, Article III, Elections. The board policy on voting and elections is available here. (You must have Adobe Acrobat installed to view this file).
Please check this web page again for more information on the Annual Meeting process and the upcoming election.
You may obtain a petition packet to run for the board by contacting SLVREC at 719-852-3538 or 800-332-7634. Alternatively, you may stop by SLVREC's office in Monte Vista to request a petition packet in person. You may request a petition packet via email by sending a message to power@slvrec.com. However, it is strongly recommended that you contact the cooperative by phone or in person to verify your eligibility for the county in which you would like to run and to confirm important dates concerning your candidacy.
There are specific rules regarding qualifying signatures on the nomination petition. Petitions must be signed by no less than 15 members. SLVREC encourages nominees to get more signatures in case one or more signatures are invalidated. The name as shown on the electric account is how the member name must be signed on the petition. If a spouse signs whose name is not on the electric account, their signature would be invalidated. If an individual signs whose account is listed under a business name, then the signature must include the title of the officer who signs the petition. No member can sign a petition for more than one candidate per district.
The nominee must make written acceptance of the nomination (sign the petition accepting the nomination).
They must be a member and reside in the district they are running for. If the nominee's eligibility is based upon a relationship to an entity (they are an officer or owner of a business), the person’s residence must be within the county they are planning to run for, not the location of the business or entity.
The nominee must not be employed or financially interested in competing enterprise or a business selling electric energy supplies to the cooperative. They must also not be a holder of any full time elected public office in which a salary in excess of $500 per year is paid. A candidate (nor their spouse or dependents) may not be employed by the coop.
